FAQ

Answers to common questions about care, access, and what to expect.

What type of care do you provide?

Homegrown PT provides private pelvic health and orthopedic physical therapy for Salado-area adults. Common reasons for care include pelvic pain, bladder leakage, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, prolapse symptoms, back or hip pain, orthopedic injuries, balance concerns, strength goals, and return-to-activity planning.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit starts with a conversation about your symptoms, health history, goals, and daily demands. From there, Dr. Sheffield completes an assessment that may include:

  • Strength, mobility, posture, balance, and movement testing
  • Education about what may be contributing to your symptoms
  • Hands-on treatment or guided movement when appropriate
  • A starting home plan that fits your routine

If pelvic health concerns are part of your visit, your options will be explained clearly and your consent is always required before any exam or treatment.

Is pelvic physical therapy only for postpartum patients?

No. Postpartum recovery is one important reason to seek pelvic PT, but care is also available for pelvic pain, bladder or bowel symptoms, sexual pain, prolapse symptoms, abdominal or scar-related concerns, and recovery after pelvic or abdominal surgery.

Do I need a referral to start?

Many patients begin by booking a discovery call or self-pay visit. Some insurance plans, surgeons, or medical situations may require a referral, prior authorization, or medical clearance. If you are unsure, ask before scheduling and we can help you identify what to confirm.

Do you accept insurance?

Homegrown PT is currently a self-pay and out-of-network practice. We do not bill commercial or state insurance directly.

Upon request, we can provide a superbill or payment documentation that you may submit to your insurer or HSA/FSA plan for possible reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement are never guaranteed, so confirm details with your plan.

Where do you see patients?

Homegrown PT serves patients in Salado and the surrounding area for in-person and home-based care. Remote plan reviews may be available for patients located in Texas when virtual care is clinically appropriate.
